bev jennings-ceramic artist-about me

I am a ceramicist/artist living in Stoke-on-Trent.  I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2007 with a 2:1 in Contemporary Crafts. Since then I have set up a studio and work from home.

My figurative work is inspired by the complexities of human nature, I am inspired by a variety of things from Dantes 'Inferno' to childrens fairy tales, to simply observing people going about their daily business.  The figures have a slightly emotive feel to them, the position of the head, or a slight tip of the shoulder can completely change the mood of the piece. Some have a slight uncanny feel, some portray the feeling of contentment, and some aren't quite what they seem!  I work mainly in clay, hand building each item individually, then crackle glazed to give them their distinctive crackle finish.

I also produce the 'Bread and Butter' range, which is a range of clocks, box frames, and decorative household items.

I like to experiment with various techniques and processes to produce a range of work which is constantly developing and changing.
